Japan Home-Buying Readiness Planner

AIC HOME-BUYING READINESS TOOL

Buying a Home in Japan? Check What You Need Before You Offer or Sign.

This planner helps you organize the life-plan, financing, property, document and location checks that may still need attention before buying a home in Japan. It does not tell you to buy, predict mortgage approval, score a property, or declare an area safe.

Key distinction: property ownership, residence status and mortgage eligibility are separate questions. A property purchase does not create a visa, PR or Naturalization route, and a lender controls its own underwriting decision.

Question 1 of 5

Where are you in the home-buying process?

Choose the stage that best describes your current position.

How stable does this location need to be for your life plan?

This is not a buy-vs-rent score. It helps identify how much flexibility you may still need.

What kind of property are you mainly considering?

New and used are not quality rankings. Each option creates different questions to verify.

What is your financing position?

Do not enter income, loan amount, bank details or documents. A lender conversation is not the same as final approval.

Which checks are still unresolved?

Choose one or more broad areas. The result will organize the next verification steps, not decide the property for you.

Current-source note

For ordinary residential property, foreign nationality by itself is not a general nationwide prohibition on ownership. However, financing, the specific property, its location, registered rights, special land regimes and reporting duties can create separate questions.

Mortgage conditions are lender- and product-specific. Permanent Residence should not be treated as a universal mortgage rule, and non-PR status should not be treated as a universal rejection rule. Verify the exact lender and product before relying on financing.

Do not let one attractive property collapse five separate decisions into one.

Keep life plans, financing, property evidence, location risk and continuing ownership responsibilities separate until each has a responsible answer. AIC can help organize the questions; lenders, authorities and qualified professionals decide or verify the property-specific issues.

Privacy and decision boundary

This proof uses broad browser-side selections only and contains no form submission to AIC. Do not enter income, bank information, loan details, property addresses, contract contents, identity numbers or documents. AIC does not predict mortgage approval, calculate taxes, value a property, certify building condition, declare an area safe, recommend an investment, or tell you whether buying is better than renting.
